Alastair joined Doig+Smith in 1994. Initially based in the Edinburgh Office, Alastair gained experience in a number of sectors including education, healthcare and infrastructure.

For the past 10 years Alastair has been delivering projects within the aviation sector at a number of airports in the UK including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Heathrow. Alastair has considerable experience in the delivery of projects from inception to completion with a focus on providing value for money for clients. Since 2004 Alastair has been based in London and has been responsible for the successful establishment of a team at Gatwick Airport delivering a wide range of major projects.

Gill is based in the Glasgow office and has responsibility for commercial management of projects for a wide range of clients. Gill’s sector experience is comprehensive including offices, education, laboratories, healthcare and airports. Gill has particular expertise in strategic procurement selection, risk and value engineering, project cost control and reporting, and final account negotiation.

Gill’s focus is on technical delivery and strong management to ensure predictable monitored outcomes that deliver an excellent quality of service to her clients, leading to extensive repeat business. She also has an in-depth working knowledge of the NEC form of contract.

Fraser McQuarrie

Fraser is a Chartered Project Manager (MRICS) with an Honours Degree in Building Surveying and an MSc in Construction / Project Management.

He joined Doig+Smith in 2015 as Director of Project Management. Fraser is ultimately responsible for leading the delivery of all Project Management services. Fraser has experience in a wide range of projects for both the private and public sectors. Most notably Fraser was Head of Health (Scotland) for Davis Langdon and Location Sector Champion for Clydesdale Bank Framework whilst at EC Harris. Fraser joined Doig+Smith from Mott MacDonald where he was Property Regional Director and sat on the UK Property Board.

Douglas is currently leading the major project for a New Harbour Facility at Nigg Bay in Aberdeen.

Douglas joined Doig+Smith in 1991 and has gained a wide range of knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of the construction industry including offices, retail, factories, residential and leisure.

He has a particular interest in the briefing process at the early stages of a project, which is essential to delivering a project which meets the Client’s requirements and expectations.

His hands-on approach and close team management will ensure a consistently high level of service delivery.

William joined Doig+Smith in 1993 whilst studying for his degree in Quantity Surveying.

Having gained experience in a number of sectors including Healthcare, Education, Leisure and Retail, William has developed a strong ability for ensuring technical delivery of projects to suit individual Client needs.

Now a Director based in the Glasgow office, William is responsible for the technical delivery of multiple projects and maintains a “hands on” approach in doing so.

David leads our Aberdeen office Cost Management delivery. He has continued his professional development since leaving University, completing a Risk Management Diploma and a Master of Laws. David is also a member of the Institute of Risk Management and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

David has considerable experience across various sectors and in particular in delivering specialist and infrastructure projects such as £80million Grampian Prison, £30million Torry Quay redevelopment as well as various Airport projects. He is currently leading our Cost Management team for the £400million Aberdeen Harbour Expansion Project.

Grant is the team lead responsible for the delivery of the capital work projects at Glasgow Airport.

Grant has over 13 years’ experience across various sectors in the UK and Australia, having mostly recently been the team lead for the £650m New Children’s Hospital project in Perth, Australia.

The current suite of projects being delivered at Glasgow Airport includes Runway Resurfacing, New Aircraft Stand, Terminal Remodelling and Consolidated Car Rental to a combined value of over £27million.

New Website

Exciting news!! Our new website is now live! We have taken the opportunity to update our web presence, make it more user friendly and enable it for full use on mobile devices.

The launch of our new website is part of our 80 Year Celebration 1936-2016. Therefore the site focuses on our People, Places and Projects and provides details of many of the assignments we have worked on. Another new feature is that we now cross reference key members of staff to projects.

Like all good websites, its content will expand over time to reflect the new work that we will undertake and it will keep you up to date with interesting news about our outstanding people.

Napier University Doig+Smith Prize

Doig+Smith continued their ongoing support for Edinburgh Napier University students this year by once again donating the “Doig+Smith Prize”. Last year’s winner was Moya Blair and we await with anticipation for this year’s winner.

The lucky recipient will be announced at the Graduation Ceremony taking place from 4th to 6th July 2016 at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh.

Doig+Smith Internships

A close relationship has been nurtured between Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Glasgow and Doig+Smith through our involvement for the “Career Ready” programme which provides 16-18 year olds with the life skills and knowledge needed for the world of work.

As an employer volunteer we provide students with one-to-one mentoring, workplace visits and summer internships. Therefore we have pleasure welcoming Nicole Hutchison and Emilia Kwiecinska who will spend the next 4 weeks in and around Glasgow being mentored by Lauren Brown and Lauren Meldrum who will assist with bridging the gap between school and work.
