Scope of project:

  • North Terminal Forecourt comprises the construction of a new forecourt on Northways (between MSCP 5 and Soffitel Hotel) and Furlong Way (adjacent to Jubilee House) in response to ASIAD security requirements
  • North Terminal Interchange involves the construction of a new passenger interchange incorporating the existing North terminal ITTS station and MSCP’s 5 and 6 Customer Interface Areas to provide a direct route to and from the terminal at all levels.  This is a critical early part of project to coincide with reporting of ITTS.  Works start in June 2009 and should be completed by April 2010.
  • Multi storey Car Park 6 is the construction of a new short stay MSCP 6 to provide approximately 1200 new spaces.  The project is due to start on site in March 2010 and be completed by March 2011
  • North Terminal Extension is an extension both the south and east of the existing North Terminal to provide additional check in and baggage reclaim capacity.  The project starts on site in October 2009 and should be completed in September 2011.

Edinburgh Airport Departure Lounge Extension, BAA

Scope of project:

  • 4,250m2 new build extension at first floor level to existing departure lounge
  • 7,500m2 of refurbishment and reconfiguration of existing retail and search facilities.
  • Works are airside and carried out in and adjacent to live terminal areas.
  • 24 month construction period with phased handover.
  • Complete January 2011.

Heathrow Airport East Terminal, BAA

Scope of project:

  • International Terminal replacing Terminal 1 and 2 at Heathrow.
  • Phase 1 is due to be completed by the Olympics in 2012.
  • Phase 1 is a terminal building of 161,000m2 serving 19 million passengers.
  • Associated forecourt works, stand works and pedestrian access works.
  • Initial works require the demolition of Terminal 2 and creation of substructure taking due consideration of the close proximity of the Piccadilly Underground Tunnel.
  • Significant challenges including how to access the site and how to ensure a workforce peaking at several thousand travels safely to site in the middle of the busiest International Airport in the world.

Heathrow Airport – Multi Storey Car Park West, BAA

Scope of project:

  • The construction of a 55,000m2, six storey car park surrounded by some of Europe’s busiest roads.
  • With some 2100mm diameter, 53m long, piling in extremely close proximity to live railway tunnels and a 52m single span prefabricated Linkbridge installed over live roads, it represented one of the most complex challenges ever faced at the Airport.
