Assembly Rooms, George Street, Edinburgh

Scope of project:

  • Upgrade and refurbishment of this culturally important Grade B listed building
  • Works included essential external repairs, internal refurbishment and services upgrade. It will refurbish the existing restaurant and provide new retail space on the ground floor whilst refurbishing the existing public performance spaces on the first and second floors

The Briggait Redevelopment, Conservation and Alterations

Scope of project:

  • The project involved Conservation and Alterations to this Historic Building to form Artists’ Studios. Works externally included upgrading and repairs to stone elevations, windows and roof.
  • Internally the main hall was refurbished and the existing shop units redeveloped to provide artists studios and office space. The remaining halls were stripped out and new mezzanines built to create further artists and dance studios. The main entrance and frontage were redeveloped to provide shopfronts and facade feature lighting.
  • The project was carried out over a 12 month period , with a challenging programme due to the extent of alterations and conservation works, and the size of the site.

Full pre and post contract services including cost planning, risk and value management, value engineering, preparation of Bills of Quantities, valuations, cost reports and settlement of final accounts.

Marischal College, Aberdeen

Scope of project:

  • City Council Headquarters building of over 215,000sq ft including the complicated retention of the existing façade and other historically important features
  • High quality office space and customer services area
  • External works to the quadrangle and Broad Street complimenting the retained features
  • Multi-storey and surface car parking in challenging city centre locations
  • Project includes a separate enabling works contract with critical elements overlapping with the main contract

Glasgow School of Art

Scope of project:

  • Conservation and Access Project to the Mackintosh Building, a Grade A Listed Historical Building.  The Mackintosh building is the only Charles Rennie Mackintosh building in the world still fulfilling it’s original design function, in the case education of art and design
  • The project was largely funded by Historic Scotland and the National Lottery Fund
  • Conservation of the building involved installation of a new heating system, stone and timber repairs, and removal of building elements such as mezzanines which were not part of the original design but were added later.  Access was to allow greater access for visitors and tourist and included creation of a shop and exhibition area
